Apple iOS 12.2 Update: Fixes 51 security flaws

Apple is known to always include security fixes each time they release update for their devices. Apple has now put a new massive 51 fixes in it’s new iOS version 12.2.

Cyber security consultant, Nick Merrill told CNN that it’s a tradition for Apple to fix security issues in they software update. The iOS 12.1.4 was released in February 2019 after the company discover a bug in FaceTime that allow easy access to camera and microphones of iPhones without the user’s permission. This bug was discovered by a student.

This fixes come before Apple’s big entering into content and entertainment industry with the upcoming Apple Streaming Platform and others. At Apple’s press event on Monday, privacy was a buzzword for its new services.

The company has promise users that they will maintain user privacy while suggesting content for users of its News+ magazine subscription service.

They also made it known on stage that it will not collect data from its streaming game service Apple Arcade. The company also promise that Goldman Sachs, which is a partner of Apple on a credit card, would never share Apple cardholder’s data for marketing.

After the announcement, Apple’s stock closed down by 1%. Investors were left unconvinced with the credit card’s interest and the TV+ price.

Now let’s take a look at some of the major fix in the new iOS 12.2.

Malicious Access to Microphone

Apple has fix the flaws that allow malicious application to access the Microphone on iPhone and even record you and those around you.

FaceTime

For those that uses FaceTime very well. The video chat always pause when you l ft the app. Now Apple has fix this, your video chat will no longer pause when you left the app.

Sensitive Information Access

One of the fix that Apple has done is the close of a loophole that give room for users to access sensitive information in the Messanger app and website you visit through Sefari. Previously, information from phone’s light and motion sensor can be accessed in the Messanger app or when visit site through Sefari.

The fixes above are just few of all the fix done to security flaws in iPhone. Some other fixes are on phone memory and SMS hacking. Some of the fixes also work on laptop and iPads.
